Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has been spotted for the first time returning to the club's training ground after the guilty verdict issues by the Premier League.

The return of Enzo Maresca to the club's training facilities comes after an independent commission found that Manchester City had artificially inflated their commercial revenues by £830 million across a period of nine seasons.

That finding has sparked outrage throughout football, with some calling for the club to be punished heavily with sanctions such as extended transfer bans, points deductions, and even expulsion from the Premier League mentioned in various quarters.

From the side of Manchester City, chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak and CEO Ferran Soriano have remained insistent on the belief that the football club is entirely innocent of wrongdoing, and an appeal against the Premier League's decision has been lodged.

But while that process remains ongoing, and is expected to last at least 12 weeks, Enzo Maresca and his Manchester City squad will return to cross-competition duties in the coming days, starting with a trip to face Andoni Iraola's Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Enzo Maresca Spotted at Man City Training Base

Now, as revealed in a report by MailSport's Jack Gaughan, Enzo Maresca has been photographed arriving back at Manchester City's training base on Monday following the first international break of the brand new season.

It is the first time the Italian coach has been seen since the Premier League confirmed the verdict of an independent commission, which found the club guilty of almost all of the 115 charges issued to those at the Etihad Stadium in 2023.

The report indicates that Manchester City's first-team squad will report back to the City Football Academy on Thursday for a group session, with manager Enzo Maresca expected to address the players as a collective in light of a difficult period for the organisation.

Thursday's address by Maresca has been reinforced by Times Sport's Paul Hirst as the Manchester City manager also prepares to face the media on Friday - ahead of this weekend's trip to Anfield against the backdrop of a pandemonium few weeks in and around the blue half of Manchester.

Maresca is expected to be asked about the independent commission's guilty verdict, with a dark cloud of uncertainty handing over the Etihad Stadium in an unfortunate time for Maresca, who took over from Pep Guardiola as Manchester City manager in June.

City have made a perfect start to the 2026/27 Premier League season, with seven wins in seven across all competitions under Maresca since August's 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal in Cardiff.
