Manchester City continued their fine run of form at the start of the brand new campaign into the month of September under new manager Enzo Maresca, winning five matches in a row across three different competitions.

In the Premier League, City defeated newly-promoted Coventry, earned a narrow away win against cross-town rivals Manchester United, and emerged triumphant from an entertaining fixture at home to Sunderland.

As for the UEFA Champions League, the Sky Blues started their European campaign with a match away in Portugal and a 0-2 win against FC Porto, while in the Carabao Cup’s Third Round, Manchester City ensured progression through a win over Norwich City at home.

Enzo Maresca and his players will now hope to continue their sensational winning run into October following the conclusion of a three-week international break and most of Manchester City’s senior squad away on duty.

Following the visit to Anfield, the Sky Blues shift their focus to the UEFA Champions League as they welcome the reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain to the Etihad on Wednesday, 14 October.

City will then remain at home after their match-up against Luis Enrique's man as they shift back to the Premier League to welcome newly-promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday, 17 October.

Champions League action will then return immediately with a third contest at the Etihad Stadium in a row, this time hosting AEK Athens on Tuesday, 20 October - the first match between the two sides.

Premier League then resumes with a trip to Aston Villa on Saturday, 24 October, having struggled the Villains in recent seasons, falling to defeat in the past two encounters at Villa Park. Unai Emery's side have won three of the past five encounters against the Sky Blues.

The Carabao Cup’s Fourth Round then follows as Manchester City host Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday, 28 October, with the Seagulls having defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford in the previous round.

Manchester City are scheduled to conclude the month of October with a Premier League match and another home fixture, once again with Brighton & Hove Albion being the visitors just days after their League Cup outing in the North-West.

Enzo Maresca and his players face a demanding schedule this month with seven matches in 22 days, giving the Italian his first taste of the relentless cross-competition agenda that Manchester City became accustomed to during their decade under Pep Guardiola.
