Pikachu is arguably the most famous and recognizable Pokémon in the world, serving as the official mascot for the entire Pokémon franchise. Introduced back in Generation I (in Pokémon Red and Green/Blue), Pikachu is an Electric-type "Mouse Pokémon" and holds the #025 spot in the National Pokédex.

Pikachu is instantly recognizable by its bright yellow fur, long pointy ears with black tips, and a tail shaped like a jagged lightning bolt (which has a flat, heart-shaped notch at the end if the Pikachu is female).

Its most notable features are the bright red pouches on its cheeks. According to Pokémon lore, these pouches store electricity while it sleeps. When threatened, or when battling, Pikachu can release this stored energy in powerful attacks like Thunderbolt, Electro Ball, and its signature physical move, Volt Tackle.
