Description: Crafted by Jason Arasheben, these diamond-encrusted behemoths transcend traditional jewelry, utilizing nearly 900 stones to immortalize the franchise’s historic journey through intricate, hidden storytelling.

As has become tradition amongst nearly every major sport, when a champion is crowned, rings are made to commemorate the occasion. The Carolina Hurricanes were no different and the final product was revealed at a special team event on Sunday. "From the beginning, our goal was not simply to design another ring, but to create a lasting symbol of the Hurricanes' championship season," said jeweler Jason Arasheben, who designed the rings. "Every element was intentionally designed to honor the team's culture, defining moments and the collective effort that brought the Stanley Cup to Carolina." Since 2009, Arasheben has designed Super Bowl rings, nearly a dozen NBA rings, but the Hurricanes were just the second ever NHL team Arasheben has worked with (he designed the Vegas Golden Knights' 2023 championship rings as well). "I reached out to the team and offered my services, me along with probably a dozen other companies that want to be able to have the opportunity to make the rings, but I was eventually able to get on the phone with Tom Dundon, the owner," Arasheben recalled. "I saw a North Carolina number pop up on my phone and said, 'I better answer this.' "There was then a whole lot of back and forth, comparing our designs with the designs of others and in the end, Tom decided that he was going with us to do it. We were able to talk about how we wanted this ring to be something more than just a beautiful design. We wanted this ring to really be a story telling device that captures a piece of history, captures the moment of the championship, all in one singular design. I think they really liked our vision for the design and storytelling of the ring and ultimately, chose us to do the rings." As has also been the case, these rings continue to grow exponentially in size, now dwarfing their predecessors from just over a decade ago. "They just keeping better," said Carolina coach Rod Brind'Amour, who has a 2006 ring as well. The Hurricanes' new rings are certainly behemoths themselves — Jordan Martinook said his first thought upon seeing it on Sunday was, 'Holy shit, it's big' — but it's something Arasheben says has become integral to telling the stories of champions. "These rings aren't meant to be practical," Arasheben said. "They're meant to more so be a trophy, a symbol of an accomplishment. The reason these rings have gotten so big, outside of the fact that we want it to be flashier and bigger, is that we want to have a ring that has more real estate to tell a more robust story. The more space you have on the ring, the more storytelling you can do and the more little hidden features you can do, the more numbers and stats and things you can incorporate into the design." The ring is comprised of 150 grams of gold, 9.8 carats of white diamonds and 2.01 carats of natural red rubies, which equates to just under 900 individually set stones in all. In total, the ring is made up of 17 separate pieces that were fused together to create the final design. The main design features of the ring include: * 53 points of diamonds set onto the side with 2026 commemorate the Hurricanes’ 53 regular season victories. * The phrase "STRESS GAME" appears along the side of the ring, honoring Carolina’s style of play built on pace, pressure and constant attack. Inspired by the Hurricanes’ locker-room tradition, it represents every player pulling on the same rope. * 66 natural red rubies line the perimeter of the ring, representing the 66 goals scored throughout Carolina’s playoff run. "Then it was up to us to kind of bring that to reality. Once we got all their feedback, we went to the chalkboard and wrote down all the storylines of the season, whether it was the 53 regular season wins or the 66 combined goals in the postseason and then we tried to incorporate all that story telling into a single design." Arasheben also stated Dundon was the main proponent of the removal puck pendant. Arasheben said that the he and his team made hundreds of rings, a process which took around eight weeks. "We really don't have a lot of time to do these rings, because by the time the Stanley Cup champion is announced and then they pick a ring manufacturer, when it's all said and done and we finalize the design, we usually have seven to eight weeks to actually complete the order," Arasheben said. "So it's a tremendous amount of pressure on us, but this is what we're built for, this is what we're used to and we ended up not failing, thank God." Arasheben presented the rings to the team on Sunday and he said he knew he had done right when Dundon came up to him and gave him a fist bump. "I went up to him yesterday and that's kind of that nervous moment for us as jewelers where we're waiting for that stamp of approval for ownership, because at the end of the day, they're the ones paying for the ring, so we want to make sure that they are ultimately very happy with the final product and I immediately darted over to Mr. Dundon and said, 'Happy?' and he said, 'Great job,' and he gave me a fist bump and then I knew we did our job," Arasheben said. Jason of Beverly Hills is also designing rings for nearly every member of the organizational staff as well (even security guards were being sized when we were given the opportunity to see the rings). Fans who are interested in buying their own championship rings can go to Jason of Beverly Hills' online store [https://jasonofbh.com/championship-program/hurricanes-fan-program.html]. "The fans have the opportunity to purchase rings that are very similar to that of the players," Arasheben said. "We have different tiers of rings and they are all available on our website. Everything is customized so they can have their name on it, customized to their finger size." Replicas can run from around $1,500 to $16,000 depending on the metal and stones interested parties select. While certainly a steep price, according to Arasheben, the rings the team got were over five times that price. "Jason of Beverly Hills created a remarkable piece that captures the spirit of our organization and what this group accomplished together," said Carolina Hurricanes General Manager Eric Tulsky. "Every detail reflects the character of this team, from the way we played to the people who made this season unforgettable." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RECENT ARTICLES Eric Tulsky Talks Season Opener, Roster Decisions, Alexander Nikishin and More [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/carolina-hurricanes/latest-news/eric-tulsky-talks-season-opener-roster-decisions-alexander-nikishin-and-more] Carolina Finalizes Opening Night Roster [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/carolina-hurricanes/latest-news/carolina-finalizes-opening-night-roster] Pyotr Kochetkov 'Very Happy' To Be Remaining With Hurricanes [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/carolina-hurricanes/latest-news/pyotr-kochetkov-very-happy-to-be-remaining-with-hurricanes] Seth Jarvis Ahead Of Schedule; Takes Part In Opening Of Training Camp [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/carolina-hurricanes/latest-news/seth-jarvis-ahead-of-schedule-takes-part-in-opening-of-training-camp] Image [https://deweb-519a7.b-cdn.net/post-images/2fc97c03-6cff-45e8-ae59-23b0632dfa24.jpeg] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stay updated with the most interesting Carolina Hurricanes stories, analysis, breaking news and more!
